This quality 3/4 bed, 2 bath home is in an amazing location with state land on one side, a 133 acre township park with 9632 feet of Lake Huron frontage on another side, and 150ft of frontage on a canal to Lake Huron. The home was drastically over built and has been maintained over the years so it will likely only require cosmetic updates to the new owners taste. The wood addition will likely need to be torn down and removed but the original cinder block building appears to be very solid with no cracks or failings in the block. Kayaking from the property or from the township park gets you access to many excellent sites including the Lake Huron sinkholes, Thunder Bay Island and lighthouse, parts of the Michigan Islands National Wildlife Refuge, the Monohansett shipwreck in just 18 feet of water, or the much deeper Pewebic shipwreck. When Lake Huron water levels are in upcycle boat traffic is possible on the canal. The township park has developed trails for walking or jogging and the state land is completely undeveloped ad available for hunting or other outdoor activities. The area feels secluded even though it is less than 10 minutes to downtown Alpena. A spring at the end of the canal prevents freezing in winter and attracts wildlife year around.
