In 1894, Edwin Tyson opened a hardware and plumbing business to service the booming real estate development in the region. This proved very profitable for Mr. Tyson, providing parts & supplies for all of the builders that were constructing all of the new houses at the turn of the last century. Deciding to take advantage of the real estate boom himself, Tyson purchased acreage around the public school building and sub-divided the land into 10 lots for the construction of a series of semi-detached houses in the Arts & Crafts style in 1902. He created a new street to service these residences that wrapped around the school building. 12 Greenwood Place is one of those charming Arts & Crafts twin residences. A stone parking pad provides off-street parking for two vehicles. A custom designed Arts & Crafts fence, pergola and gate provides access to the fully fenced rear yard derived from plans in Old House Journal.
