This is a 23 acre original town site of Grizzly Flats founded in 1850. This land is featured in a book called - Fire in Sierra Nevada Forests: A Photographic Interpretation of Ecological Change - This land was the site of the Old Wheeler mine, and there are oar cart tracks and a stamp mill foundation still there. We've found an old flintlock type pistol, and some old bottles. Crystals pop up after winter rains that we pick up off the ground. There are many water sources that feed two ponds. The land stores 10 million gallons of appropriative water rights to be used for the owners beneficial use." Appropriative means that unlike riparian rights, the water does not have to left on the shed side of the water but can be appropriated elsewhere. I have placed about 800 tons of asphalt grindings on the roads for year round access to the main part of the property.
