It wasn’t until a pair of schoolteachers from New Jersey arrived that I truly felt cherished. They had spent decades enduring harsh Northeast winters, teaching young minds while dreaming of warmth & charm. When they first saw me, I was a shadow of my former self. The years had been kind, but I needed more than just a bit of love & care. They saw past the worn floors & chipped paint—they saw the beauty I once was & could be again. They saw me. With gentle hands & loving hearts, they breathed new life into my bones. Fresh paint brightened my walls, & my floors gleamed like the summer sun. The kitchen became a masterpiece, w/ its ceiling shimmering like the night sky. In 2019, they gave me a new roof, & I felt as though I could stand tall for another 100 yrs. The new AC made those warm Mississippi days cooler. It wasn’t just the renovations that made me feel loved. It was the way they cherished each creak of my floorboards & each whisper of wind through my eaves. They made me feel alive, more than just bricks & mortar—a living, breathing part of their story. As the sun sets over the magnolia trees & the crickets begin their song, I stand proud & tall, ready for the next chapter. My windows may be old, & my floors may creak, but I am filled with life & love, ready for whatever comes next. After all, a lady like me always has a story to tell.
