This 40 acre parcel has a great mix of forest and open land as well as over 50ft in elevation change. About 1/3 of the property is dense cedar and hemlock lower ground. This thick wetland extends for many miles across multiple properties and is formed by the surrounding hills run off. The drainage crosses the southern portion of this property on it's way to the Ford River. The central 1/3rd of the property is maple hardwoods with some hemlocks and other pines mixed in. The northern 1/3rd of the property is a ridge that rises up above the surrounding property. Not just this property but also the neighboring properties. This ridge had been logged in the last 5-10 years and maple are beginning to grow back along the ridge. The south facing slope of the ridge is completely covered in raspberries of black berries. Two sides of the property adjoin commercial forest land, much of which has been very recently clear cut. A short walk across the commercial forest or stateland gets you to the Ford River. The Ford River is a Class IV trout stream which is open to fishing year around. There are also reports of steelhead coming this far up the river. The land is in the Ford River Wintering Complex which allows for potential grants from the state of Michigan for improving the land. There is a sturdy old fashioned camp on the property. It is dry and has a oil furnace and a 2 inch well. None of this has been used in approx 7 years. There is also an outhouse.
