6 Industries With Their Own Black Fridays
Everyone knows the busiest shopping day of the year is Black Friday. Following their Thanksgiving dinners hordes of shoppers head to the malls to form human stampedes. Obviously, this means it’s the busiest day of the year for retailers, but what about other industries? What day is the “Black Friday” for those in other lines of work? Here’s what we found…
Taxidermists
You’ll get a wide variety of answers when you ask people when is ideal time to shoot something, stuff it, and put it on your wall. However, if you ask a taxidermist when they’re busiest, they’ll tell you it’s the start of rifle season for deer. Due to state regulations, dates vary around the country, but once it wherever/whenever it begins you’ll see a lot of trucks packed out front with a deer carcass strapped to the roof.

The months leading up to April 15th are busy for accountants, but the closer it gets to the final day the busier they are. Not a lot of sleep is to be had the week leading up the 15th, but when that day is through accountants gather in packs for parties so epic nobody could begin to imagine.

Edible Arrangements—the producers of fresh fruit arrangements and gift baskets—have a variety of products for all occasions. However, they say Valentine’s Day is definitely their Black Friday. Same goes for florists, but you probably already knew that.

Oyster Farmers
Most oyster farmers are at the mercy of the tides, awaiting for the sea to retreat so they can harvest the delicious mollusks. Since tides are dependent on the moon, whenever the moon is full, there are more extreme high and low tides. Depending on the time of day the tide is low oyster farmers may be out in the dark with headlamps gathering up their oysters. Day or night, low tide is the Black Friday for oyster farmers.

Apparently “get a divorce” is a popular New Year’s resolution because January is by far the busiest months for divorce attorneys. Perhaps marriages have a hard time withstanding the pressures of the holidays, or maybe it’s just the start of a new year seems like an ideal time to start fresh. Either way, if you’re planning on getting a divorce you may want to wait until Valentine’s Day.

Far fewer people are house hunting during the holidays, but once the new year begins house hunters pour out of the woodwork.
