These Are the Dog Breeds Each State Googles More Frequently than Any Other State
Roughly 44% of Americans own a dog, but American dog breed preferences vary widely by state. To find out how they differ, Estately ran hundreds of dog breeds through Google Trends to determine which states searched for each breed the most over the past 14 years. To be clear, the map above and list below do not represent what breed each state Googles the most, they simply show the dog breeds each state Googles more frequently than of the other 49 states and the District of Columbia.
The states that seem most enthused about Googling dog breeds were West Virginia, North Dakota, Oklahoma, and Washington state. People in Kansas and Delaware can hardly be bothered to type a dog breed into the search bar. Maine is tops for 9 different dog breeds, yet it still finds the time to Google “cat videos” more than any other state.
Looking to live the Pug life? Turns out Vermont’s your spot. Want to buy a home in a neighborhood filled with tiny Terriers? Washington state residents are enamored with them. Prefer your dogs oversized and capable of fending off bears? Alaska’s Google history shows that’s particularly important to them.
