Which Presidential Candidate Has Each State Donated the Most Money to?

The presidential primaries have only just begun, but Americans have been writing checks to their favorite candidates for months. Here at Estately we were curious which candidate each state donated to the most so we investigated using the latest data from the Federal Election Commission.

Hillary Clinton came out on top, with 28 states donating more to her than any other candidate. She was followed by Dr. Ben Carson (8), Gov. Jeb Bush (3), Sen. Bernie Sanders (3), Sen. Ted Cruz (2), Gov. Chris Christie (1), Sen Lindsey Graham (1), Gov. Bobby Jindal (1), Gov. John Kasich (1), Sen. Rand Paul (1), and Gov. Scott Walker (1).

Surprisingly, Sen. Marco Rubio, who received the sixth most in contributions overall ($27.7 million), didn’t place first in any of the states. Neither did Donald Trump, who placed seventh with $19.3 million.

Jeb Bush:  Florida, Michigan, Mississippi

Ben Carson:  Alabama, Alaska, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming

Ted Cruz:  Texas, West Virginia

Hilary Clinton: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Washington

Chris Christie: New Jersey

Lindsey Graham: South Carolina

Bobby Jindal:  Louisiana

John Kasich:  Ohio

Rand Paul:  Kentucky

Bernie Sanders:  California, Hawaii, Vermont

Scott Walker:  Wisconsin
